  5. What a great competition. I have been sewing since I was 7-8 and was taught by my very patient mum. I bought my first sewing machine when I was pregnant with my daughter and only made one set of curtains and some nappies and then it got put away. I havent had alot of time until recently now my two bubs are a little older and I am enjoying sewing for them. I feel like I am relearning the basics from scratch.

  6. I have took an interest in sewing when I was a young teen, but school, then work seemed to prioritise over it. I mentioned to my other half that I loved sewing when I was younger, and for christmas one year he bought me a sewing machine. I found I had forgottenalot of what I had learnt, so when I visited my mum in me lb I took a course with Nicole mallalieu, which was amazing!

    1. Oops. I've been sewing as long as I can remember. My Mum worked in a fabric shop back in the day so I always has access to beautiful fabrics and vintage patterns.

  9. I've been sewing since a young age as I always interested at anything crafts related. A million thanks to my mother, my grandmother and my aunt who taught me the basics of hand and machine sewing (using their vintage singer sewing machines). I then bought my first sewing machine when I was 19 and have never looked back!

  15. I've been sewing since December last year. I did Textiles at school about 10 years ago but I was a bludgy teenager back then. The only benefit it gave me was some common sense machine knowledge...I'm scared to even try a zip or button! I was planning to enroll in this course at the end of this week IF I can afford it. This is a great prize! :)

I have taken it up again after a 20yr break! I'd love to do the basics again, I have never been able and still cannot read a pattern and sew by just looking at the pattern pictures. Great prize and great that its out there, I will go have a look now.

  44. It was a great decision joining TSL on Facebook especially now that a blog had been created - more info to absorb and learn!! ... been sewing since primary age til high school as a subject at school but had been rusty ever since. Would be fantastic to re-learn the basic to broaden my skills! Wonderful comp!

  45. I have been sewing on and off for ever.... but have finally decided to really get into it :)

  46. With a cupboard stashed with sewing supplies & a machine & overlocker ready to be used, lessons are what I desperately NEED! I've owned my sewing machine for 2 years, but have only ever done the basics, & by basics, I'm talking straight stitch to sew two pieces of fabric together! What a great idea to have lessons online! A much better way to learn rather than try to fit it around a hectic household of 6!

    ReplyDelete
  47. Fantastic giveaway!! I am absolutely hopeless at reading (and following!!) patterns so I hope I win and finally get some "real" education PMSL!!

  48. Love the idea of an online course...to fit around our own busy schedules.

  49. Do I have to count the years that WASN'T sewing? I started sewing for myself when I was a teenager (about 14 or 15) making incredibly daggy knee length shorts out of all the daggiest/silliest kiddy prints I could get my hands on. I have always had a sewing machine, or good access to one! and before I got back into sewing a couple of years ago I would do crazy stuff - like hem pants, skirts, etc; make curtains (very badly!); and other crazy stunts too. So, I s'pose you could say I have been sewing for *gulp* nearly 30 years (oh it hurts to say that number...it really truly does!!!)

    ReplyDelete
  50. I only started 3 months ago, and have so far a few skirts/blouses and dresses from copying things in my wardrobe. I would really like to learn to use patterns properly though, then I can make things for other people too!
